This week Gov. Inslee wrote a letter of support for a grant that will aid the city of Bothell’s recovery from a July 22 fire after touring the downtown businesses damaged by the fire with Bothell Mayor Andy Rheaume and Sen. Rosemary McAuliffe.
On Wednesday, the governor toured the scene of the fire that destroyed 20 businesses in Bothell, and heard from police and fire officials about the response to the blaze, and efforts taken to prevent the fire from spreading further. After the tour, the governor and mayor spoke with business owners affected by the fire, and discussed the state’s involvement in recovery.
Following Wednesday’s visit, the governor sent a letter to the Transportation Investment Board, offering his support for the city’s Main Street Enhancement project grant. The project would allow new commercial development while ensuring the continued viability of existing businesses by improving and revitalizing Bothell’s historic main street area through widened sidewalks and traffic improvements.
