Gov. Jay Inslee today announced the appointment of Brian Stiles to the Skagit County Superior Court. Stiles currently runs his own private law firm and serves as the sole Judge of the Sedro-Woolley Municipal Court. He was first appointed to that post in 1996. Stiles also serves as pro tem judge for Skagit County courts and the Swinomish Tribal Court.
“Brian has deep roots in the Skagit community and a passion for the law,” Inslee said. “His experience both in and out of the courtroom speak to his professionalism, strong work ethic and dedication to excellence. He’ll be an outstanding addition to the Superior Court bench.”
Stiles graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1975 and went on to earn his law degree at University of Puget Sound. Prior to starting his own firm, he served more than a decade as city attorney for the City of Sedro-Woolley. Stiles volunteers with numerous community and civic groups including serving on the boards of organizations such as the Rotary Club of Sedro-Woolley, YMCA and Skagit Valley College Foundation.
Stiles is replacing Judge John Meyer who served with distinction since 1997. His term is effective beginning in July.
